CROMATOS QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND CERTIFICATIONS

The Cromatos management team has understood from the outset that quality of products is crucial for customer loyalty and for this reason decided over the years, to enhance the Quality Control Systems, both of raw materials and of finished products, by increasing analytical laboratory equipment and, above all, strengthening the expertise of staff through specific professional growth paths. The natural evolution of these activities is the company’s willingness to obtain the certification according to the UNI EN ISO 9001 quality standard, certification obtained for the first time in 2007, and renewed in 2016 according to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard. The commitment of Cromatos governance on “ethic business”, has finally led the company to the adoption in 2017 of a “MOG” (Model of organization and management) in compliance with the provisions of Legislative Decree 231 / 2001; making “official” the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility, thus Cromatos’ willingness to contribute to social progress and to the defense of the environment with the continuous commitment to ethically behave for economic development and to improve the quality of life of their workers as well as their families, local community and entire society. CODE OF ETHICS – will arrive

In 2017 Cromatos moreover decided to apply the HACCP system (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) to its production process in order to obtain from the Competent Local Authority (ASL) the authorization as “food company”. Through the definition of the Auto Control Manual, biological, chemical and physical risks that may exist at every step of production have been identified, measured and verified, thus ensuring the safety and quality of “food” during all stages of processing. In 2019 Cromatos achieved important goals

He joined the Bluesign project becoming Bluesign System Partner, developing a class of products dedicated to textile dyeing, in compliance with the restrictions defined by the Bluesign System Substance List (BSSL).

Following the Bluesign philosophy, Cromatos intends to make its contribution in terms of responsible production, in order to make the environment safer and more sustainable both for the people who work in the textile world and for the final consumer.

Cromatos has also obtained ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) accreditation: it has become an active member with over 30 products approved at level 3. It is another important recognition for the benefit of the environment.

Finally, the company obtained two important certifications, which are added to those already in place, ISO 9001 and the Code of Ethics: the ISO 14001 certification – environmental management system and ISO 45001 – management system for the safety.

EUROPEAN REGULATIONS: REACH and CLP regulations.

During 2006, the first version of Regulation 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) was issued. This regulation imposes very strict rules and quantitative/qualitative limits on all chemicals that are placed in the European Community. Each commercial entity that places chemicals in Europe, is for the first time compelled by this regulation to submit toxicological and eco-toxicological classification of its products, by providing data according to well defined European protocols.
Two years later, in 2008, the Regulation 1272/2008 on Classification, Labeling and Packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP) was issued. This regulation substantially revises the classification criteria, and the method of hazards communication along the production chain, forcing the manufacturer to comply with well-defined timelines.

A first reading of these regulations shows clearly that the commitment that these regulations require, both economically and in terms of human resources, must not be underestimated and it is necessary for immediate action has to be taken, to ensure full compliance with the regulations within the 2018 timeframe (the final date of entry into force of REACH),
For this reason, Cromatos together with Chimica Tessile, joined a group of companies working in the same field, to create Reach&Colours; a company established to collect and manage the needs of these companies in terms of compliance with REACH and CLP.

The choice of Reach&Colours will prove successful over time: in fact, the company became a leader in the management of the SIEF for the three European REACH consortia on Organic Dyes, and carries out on time all the registration procedures for Cromatos, in order to respect 2018 deadline.
